Art Intent
The intent of the art curriculum at our primary school is to foster a deep appreciation for the arts while equipping pupils with the skills and creativity necessary to express themselves. We aim to instil in our students a lifelong love for art and an understanding of its significance in various cultures and histories, with particular emphasis on:
- Creativity and Self-Expression: Encourage pupils to explore their individuality through diverse media and techniques. We promote an environment where each child's voice and ideas are valued.
- Cultural Awareness: Introduce children to a wide range of artistic movements and notable artists from both historical and contemporary contexts, fostering an understanding of the cultural significance of art from around the world.
- Critical Thinking and Evaluation: Develop pupils' ability to analyse and critique their own work and that of others, building confidence and deeper understanding of artistic concepts.
- Cross-Curricular Links: Integrate art with other subjects such as history, science, and language studies to form an enriched learning experience that promotes well-rounded knowledge.
